We’re Leigh and Alyson Ayland and we run Oakfield Growers, a market garden based just outside Chepstow, along the Usk Road. I started out growing salad leaves on begged and borrowed land, and have been using organic no-dig methods for the past five or so years.
In 2021 we moved onto a site we own ourselves. We live there, too, and this has allowed us to invest in more long-term crops, such as fruit and asparagus, as well as infrastructure that gives us the efficiency we need to keep costs down. We now have 2 x 20m polytunnels to help extend our growing season.
Our current site is also very accessible if you want to visit – and we hope you will!
Everything I sell is sown, planted and harvested by me, with help on harvest day from my wife Alyson and occasionally from my good friend Julian from Portskewett. He was one of the early adopters of organic growing back in the late 60s!
Our Regular (£17) or Large (£22) veg boxes are available every Friday. We deliver direct to your door in the Danes, Bulwark, Shirenewton, Devauden and Itton areas, as well as Parc Seymour, St Arvans, Pwllmeyric and Tutshill. Or you can collect your box from us on Friday afternoons, when we’re back from our delivery round.
Prefer to shop in person? We have a roadside stall and honesty box available.
